Hello experienced marketer,

I recently launched a website and hope to gain well needed exposure by submitting it to several online directories in my geographic region. Will I be penalized by search engines for using the same wording in the description field of the application forms?

Thanks much.

Generally no, if you use a little it's ok but a large amount of copied text will get that page ignored by google.

We don't allow affiliate to copy text from our product sites, if you need reviews and text for your site then use the "advertising tools" and use the "reviews"

Many thanks

Hi

As a general rule you should make sure that at least 30% of anything you right is original. If its is picked up as duplicate content, then you will damage your sites rankings. http://www.articlechecker.com/ is a good tool to use to see if your content is unique, but there are quite a few out there!

If you want to see if your site has been copied, http://www.copyscape.com/ is good to check out

Thanks
Dave

Duplicate content penalties by Google are a myth.....

Think about how the robots see the page, every page layout and colors and pics and everything are different anyway, who cares about the same text, certainly not the robot.

I've had completely un-original articles on the first page in Google for millions of results in less than 1 day.

This is just another myth cooked up by the all-powerful people making real money so you the little guy think you can't make it cause Google might Bitch-slap you cause you stole a paragraph.

Let me tell you one more thing. Google isn't God, nor do they run the Internet.

The sooner you realize this, the sooner you will be on your way to income online.

It is a very good advise. So can I use the PLR articles in my blog?

I am always confused by the duplicate content issue but martinact420 has a point.

I tried to use all the articles provided by an affiliate program at Clickbank. I didn't edit or rewrite any of the article because the author don't allow it. The keyword for that program is fairly competitive but I managed to reached the 2nd page in just two weeks. Of course I did some backlinking.

With that result, the more I am confused and amused

However, it is better and safer if you at least rewrite something or make it 30% unique as Sir Dave said especially for fiercely competitive niches such as "make money online" or "make money on the internet".
