Beginers Guide to Tracking Links on High Profits

Here's an important question that I think some other people have too:

When giving the link to someone via Twitter or some other medium if we shorten it via Cligs or another URL clipper will the site still be able to track the sale?

I have checked out Cli.gs and I cannot seem to find any reason why it would not work, it just sends the user through a re-direct. The simplest test if you are still unsure is to click on it a couple of times yourself - if the clicks show up in your stats (they will show as raw, not unique if you click multiple times) then the link is working

it depends what host you have. if you can upload other things then this should come up right away

Does HighProfits accept a .htaccess 301 redirect ? will it still track the sale correctly?
Most of my sites I use .htaccess redirect,
For example create a file named .htaccess
Redirect 301 /highprofits http://affurl

Yes 301 Re-directs are a great way to hide your affiliate link and you still get credit for any sales through those links:

I prefer this method:

In .htaccess use:

redirect 301 /product.html http://affcode

You may want to use exit pages though as they are a great way of tracking goals on Google analytics which can be linked to Google adwords too - here's a thread about them

I don't think you need to worry too much about the tracking links in the code, most sites now fill up the address bar with all sorts of php controls.

Hi Jonathan,

I class myself as a newbie, so please excuse any silly questions.
What are php controls?

I have been following the video tutorials on Genuine Income Streams with ref to promoting a Clickbank product. One video explains how to shorten your URL, but I have had problems accessing any sites that help you achieve this, is it a must to do this, or do you think it is not necessary ? I did like the idea of being able to mask your link.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
