Default Nvu help

Hi there, Last night I downloaded and started building my site with Nvu but my file is saved as XHTML. I don't seem to have the option to save in HTML format and my browser doesn't recognize this format so I can't see what my site looks like or validate that all my links are working like I want...what am I doing wrong?

Oh, and by the way, the link for the Nvu user guide in the HighProfits Workshop doesn't work either....

You should still be able to view an XHTML file; what's the extension on the file?

I've checked the link and it does seem to be working, which link did you mean?

The link on page 3 of the editing guide has this link...nvudev.com/guide/1.0PR/ugs02.htm

It brings us to the Nvu page but there is no user guide there...

The file extension is XHTML...that doesn't seem right..I read somewhere that it is a template file....how do I convert it back to a regular htm file?

Alright I'll look into that link thanks.

If you can't save your page as .htm or .html (have you tried "save as"?) then perhaps switch to Komposer or get hold of Dreamweaver which we use

I switched to Kompozer and I think I figured it out. I had just opened the template file and started customizing. If you do this, you only have the option of saving as an XHTML. I then tried "open a new page with template" and then I manually renamed the file with the extension .htm and it worked!

Now my questions are with regard to the links to the products and also the copyright at the bottom of the template pages...

First the links ; Do I have to put in some kind of affiliate code for the link to be traced back to me? If so, where do I find it?

Copyright ; the bottom of the pages have standard copyright footers that say "Copyright 2008 YourWebsiteName.com". If I am using these templates and putting my own website name, I am basically claiming copyright for the content - that is a sort of plagiarism and so am I authorized to do this? Will this not create a problem if sales are generated from this site?

Thx

I think I found part of my link answer in the affiliate area but just for clarification, If we copy the link codes into our various banners to direct traffic to the website, do these codes have to be modified with our affiliate number somehow?

Great stuff with the editor!

Links: you need to grab your unique links from the Advertising Tools section. You can wrap these links around any bits of text you want to use or grab some banners from the same area.

Check each link by simply clicking on it and make sure it's your own personal link or you won't get any credit for a sale! Change any links on the template at the moment to your links too, make sure all the images have your links on as well.

Copywrite: Change the text "Copyright 2008 YourWebsiteName.com" to "Copyright 2009 [yourwebsitename].com"

Post your URL onto the forum then we can all check the site out!

Regards,
